Jeffrey's

Ellen and I went for a bike ride yesterday evening, and on our way home we impulsively decided to stop for dinner at a place called Jeffrey's. (Ellen used to deliver vegetables there when she volunteered for a farm co-op back in high school)

Ellen was in bicycle shorts and had grease all over one leg from brushing against her chain; I was sweaty and my shorts were bulging from all the stuff in my pockets. We were a little worried that we'd be under-dressed for this place, but nobody said anything.

The food was incredible and the bill was shocking, but we DID get a lot of bang for our buck:

  • Strawberry Basil Mojito

  • Gruyettes (little bread puffs stuffed with Gruyère)

  • Figs stuffed with Ricotta cheese

  • Crispy Oysters Split
“Octavia” with Bacon Royale, “Overnight” Tomato Vinaigrette
on house-made Sea Salt Potato Chips & “Original” on Yucca
Chips with Habanero-Honey Aïoli & Pineapple Pico de Gallo

  • Grilled Quail Antiboise
Hill Country Quail with grilled Boggy Creek Farm Carrots,
Fiddlehead Ferns, & Ramps with Sauce Antiboise

  • Cod & Hazelnuts
Pan-roasted Atlantic Cod, petite Broccoli Greens,
    Morel Mushrooms, toasted Hazelnuts,
    & house-made White Pepper-Potato Gnocchi
    in a Brown Butter-Parmesan Broth

  • Chocolate Intemperance
    Flourless Chocolate Cake with Valrhona
Dark Chocolate Mousse & Double Chocolate Ice Cream

  • Crescent City Beignets
    Beignets with Malted Milk Affogato
